Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp. acquired Danish optical solutions provider NIL Technology ApS for €300 million ($326 million), expanding its footprint in advanced meta-optics technology as demand grows for miniaturized components in consumer electronics and automotive applications.
The Taiwanese display component maker will integrate NILT’s nano-optical design capabilities with its mass production expertise. The deal gives Radiant access to NILT’s proprietary nano-imprint lithography technology, which is crucial for manufacturing next-generation optical components.
NILT, founded in 2006, will continue operating independently while serving its existing customer base in prototyping and mass production of meta-optical components. The company also maintains its operations in imprint tools and nanoscale manufacturing services.
Radiant’s CEO Wang Yu-Chao said the acquisition strengthens the company’s position in new optical technologies. NILT’s founder Theodor Nielsen noted that Radiant’s manufacturing experience would accelerate meta-optics production scaling, particularly for consumer electronics.
The move comes as Radiant, which has shipped over 1 billion backlight modules since its 1995 founding, seeks to diversify its technology portfolio amid increasing demand for advanced optical solutions in AR/VR, robotics, and automotive sectors.
