SK Hynix logged record quarterly results with operating profit reaching 11.38 trillion won ($7.96 billion) in the third quarter, marking the first time the South Korean chipmaker breached the 10 trillion won threshold. Revenue climbed to 24.45 trillion won ($17.1 billion), while net income hit 12.60 trillion won ($8.81 billion).
The memory chip supplier attributed the performance to rising prices for DRAM and NAND products alongside growing shipments of high-bandwidth memory chips used in artificial intelligence servers. Sales of 12-layer HBM3E and DDR5 server memory drove growth, while shipments of high-capacity DDR5 modules doubled from the previous quarter.
The company’s cash position strengthened considerably, with reserves climbing to 27.9 trillion won ($19.5 billion) from 17 trillion won three months earlier. Interest-bearing debt stood at 24.1 trillion won ($16.9 billion), moving the company to a net cash position of 3.8 trillion won ($2.7 billion).
SK Hynix plans to begin HBM4 shipments in the current quarter after completing development in September. The chipmaker said it secured full customer demand for DRAM and NAND production through next year, prompting plans to increase capital spending beyond 2025 levels.
Chief Financial Officer Kim Woohyun said the company would maintain its lead in AI memory through advanced products and manufacturing capabilities. The company intends to accelerate migration to its 1cnm DRAM process technology.
