Samsung Electronics launched its next-generation AI model Gauss2 at its annual developer conference, expanding its push into artificial intelligence with three distinct versions tailored for different computing needs.
The new system comes in Compact, Balanced and Supreme variants, with the latter using Mixture of Experts technology to reduce computational costs while maintaining performance, according to Samsung Research CTO Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun. He said Gauss2 is already being used internally to boost productivity.
The Balanced and Supreme models process AI responses 1.5 to 3 times faster than leading open-source alternatives, Samsung claims. The system supports up to 14 languages and various programming languages depending on the version.
Samsung has already integrated Gauss into internal tools like its code.i programming assistant, which is now used by about 60% of software developers in its Device eXperience division. The company also employs the technology in its customer service operations to automatically categorize and summarize calls.
The Korean tech giant plans to expand AI features across its product lines while incorporating knowledge graph technology to enhance personalization capabilities. The virtual conference also included sessions on healthcare, IoT and software platforms.
