Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have received approval to supply U.S. chipmaking equipment to their China factories without the need for separate approvals. This move comes as the U.S. is expected to extend the waiver granted to these South Korean chipmakers, easing uncertainties related to their operations and investments in China. The U.S. Department of Commerce will update its “validated end user” list to include Samsung and SK Hynix, allowing them to continue supplying specific U.S. chipmaking tools to their Chinese facilities without individual export permissions.
