Mediatek’s Cutting-Edge Dimensity 9300: Pioneering All Big Core Design for Unmatched Mobile Experiences

Hsinchu, November 6, 2023 – Mediatek, a global semiconductor leader, reveals its groundbreaking Dimensity 9300 mobile chip. Boasting an unparalleled All Big Core configuration, it marries extreme performance with industry-leading power efficiency, promising unrivaled user experiences in gaming, video capture, and on-device generative AI processing.

The Dimensity 9300 stands as Mediatek’s most potent chip yet, propelled by the innovative All Big Core design. Chen underscores that this distinctive architecture, in tandem with the upgraded on-chip AI Processing Unit, heralds a new era in generative AI applications, pushing boundaries in edge and hybrid AI computing.

Integrating the next-gen APU 790 AI processor, the Dimensity 9300 redefines generative AI performance and energy efficiency for agile and secure edge computing. The APU 790 excels in doubling integer and floating-point operations while drastically reducing power consumption by 45%. Its adaptive Transformer model acceleration catapults processing speeds to eight times that of the prior generation, ensuring swift image generation. Additionally, the APU 790 leverages innovative mixed-precision INT4 quantization technology, coupled with NeuroPilot memory hardware compression, optimizing memory bandwidth and slashing requirements for large AI models. The APU 790 also champions NeuroPilot Fusion, enabling seamless LoRA low-rank adaptation and support for expansive language models.

Powered by the Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU, the Dimensity 9300 elevates mobile gaming with a remarkable 46% performance boost, maintaining power consumption levels on par with its predecessor. This chipset additionally achieves a 40% reduction in GPU power consumption while delivering similar performance levels. This advancement ensures a substantial performance upgrade without compromising battery life. Mediatek seamlessly blends the chipset’s formidable octa-core CPU design with its second-gen raytracing engine, ensuring console-level global illumination effects at a fluid 60 FPS. This dynamic chipset empowers users to effortlessly multitask, enabling gaming and video streaming simultaneously.

The Dimensity 9300 revolutionizes mobile photography and video capture with its low-power AI-ISP and always-on HDR capabilities, supporting 4K resolution at 60 fps. It introduces cinematic mode for real-time bokeh tracking and integrates 4K AI Noise Reduction and AI processing for RAW photos and videos. Additionally, the Dimensity 9300 embraces the Ultra HDR format in Android 14, promising vivid and universally compatible photos. Further enhancing photography, it introduces groundbreaking ambient light adaptive HDR recovery technology.

For a seamless user experience, the Dimensity 9300 ensures robust connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 speeds up to 6.5 Gbps and integrates MediaTek Xtra Range Technology for extended reach. With Multi-Link Hotspot technology, it accelerates smartphone tethering speeds by up to threefold compared to competitors.

The Dimensity 9300, built on TSMC’s third-gen 4nm process, features an innovative configuration of four Arm Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores, maximizing performance. Display capabilities include WQHD at 180Hz and 4K at 120Hz, along with dual active display support for foldable designs. Its 5G R16 modem ensures seamless connectivity with enhanced power efficiency, while LPDDR5T 9600Mbps memory provides speedy performance.

Its privacy-focused design safeguards against physical attacks on data access, ensuring secure processes during boot-up and computing. With Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 processors aligned with the latest Armv9 architecture, it supports Arm’s advanced Memory Tagging Extension (MTE) technology, bolstering user safety and expediting development.
