South Korean gaming giant KRAFTON is set to begin testing its newest mobile title in Canada, marking the first step toward a global rollout planned for the first half of 2024.
The Dark and Darker Mobile game, developed by KRAFTON’s subsidiary Bluehole Studio, will debut in Canada on February 5. The launch follows two global tests and a showcase at gamescom 2024.
The developer plans to revamp several key features before the worldwide release, including the “Darkswarm” system and escape mechanics. The updates aim to improve exploration dynamics and party gameplay, while enhancing character customization options and combat systems.
Bluehole Studio is introducing a seasonal structure to the game, with each period featuring distinct themes, dungeons, and character classes. The progression system will allow players to carry over achievements between seasons.
The mobile adaptation includes interface modifications to address touch-screen challenges, with optimized button placement and simplified resource management systems.
KRAFTON has been expanding its mobile gaming portfolio as the company seeks to reduce its dependence on the PUBG franchise. The new title enters a competitive mobile gaming market, where player retention and monetization remain key challenges for developers.
