Kolmar Korea, a leading cosmetics manufacturer, has forged a partnership with Tmall Global to facilitate Korean beauty brands’ expansion into China, as diplomatic relations between the two countries show signs of recovery.
The collaboration was unveiled during a market entry seminar hosted by Seoul Business Agency on June 16th at SETEC Convention Center. Tmall Global, which commands 880 million monthly active users, serves as China’s largest cross-border e-commerce platform and has been aggressively courting Korean brands as Chinese consumer demand for premium products intensifies.
Kolmar Korea, which ranked 125th globally in TIME’s World’s Best Companies for Sustainable Growth 2025, presented global cosmetics trends and market strategies to participating Seoul-based beauty companies. The firm’s presentation emphasized customized China entry strategies and technological innovations that have driven its recent growth.
The Chinese K-beauty market is projected to expand at an 8.2% compound annual growth rate, making it one of the fastest-growing segments globally. China has emerged as a foremost market for K-beauty products, with distribution dominated by online platforms like Tmall.
Seoul Business Agency is now recruiting companies for its “2025 China Online Market Entry Support Program,” offering fast-track platform entry and promotional support. Applications close June 20th, targeting Seoul-based companies with registered English trademarks and proprietary brands.
The partnership reflects broader Korean ambitions to capitalize on the global K-beauty boom, with Korea posting record $9.3 billion in cosmetics exports as of November 2024.
