South Korean entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM plans to more than triple its streaming subscribers to 15 million by 2027, betting on original content and international expansion to drive growth.

The Seoul-based company projects a compound annual growth rate of 36.3% in its streaming business over the next five years, according to its 2025 business outlook released Wednesday. The ambitious target comes as its TVING streaming platform reported revenue of won 435.3 billion ($327 million) in 2024, with operating losses narrowing.

CJ ENM’s fourth-quarter operating profit fell 30.2% to won 41 billion, while revenue jumped 41.9% to won 1.79 trillion, driven by content sales and advertising recovery. The entertainment division saw a 57.3% revenue surge to won 1.39 trillion.

The company outlined a multi-pronged strategy focusing on original content production, global partnerships, and digital platform enhancement. It plans to release over 25 new shows in 2025, including high-profile series for Apple TV+ and Netflix.

In its commerce segment, mobile live streaming sales more than doubled to won 323.2 billion in 2024, reflecting growing consumer appetite for live shopping experiences.

The stock remains under pressure as investors await clear signs of profitability in the streaming business, which the company expects to achieve in late 2025.
