ABEMA, the video distribution service, has unveiled its eagerly-awaited top 5 anime rankings for each season of 2023, offering a glimpse into the year’s most popular titles among viewers. These rankings, based on the viewership on ABEMA’s anime channel, reflect the evolving tastes and trends within the anime community.

In the winter season, spanning January to March, “By the Grace of the Gods 2” emerged as the clear favorite, captivating audiences with its unique blend of otherworldly adventure and rich storytelling. The spring season saw “Oshi no Ko” clinch the top spot, buoyed by the original work’s popularity and its chart-topping opening theme.

The summer and fall seasons were dominated by “Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2,” a series that has become synonymous with the anime landscape in 2023. Its narrative, split into the arcs “Kaigyoku / Tamaori” and “Shibuya Jihen-hen,” resonated deeply with viewers, underscoring the series’ widespread appeal.

Notably, the year also witnessed the rise of non-sequel works, demonstrating the anime industry’s ability to continually innovate and captivate. “My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999” and “My Happy Marriage” are prime examples, consistently topping various rankings and offering fresh narratives alongside the popular sequels.
