It operates in seven segments: Liner Trade, Air Cargo Transportation, Logistics, Automotive, Dry Bulk, Energy, and Others. The company offers liner trade services, such as ocean cargo shipping, ship owning and chartering, shipping agency, container terminal operations, harbor transport, and tugboat operations; air cargo transport; and logistics services, including warehousing, cargo transport/handling, and coastal cargo shipping services, as well as land transportation by trucks and rail, customs clearance, and ocean and air freight forwarding services. It also provides automotive services, such as constructing coastal and inland transportation networks, transporting construction and heavy machinery and used vehicles, and pre-delivery inspection; transport of heavy cargo and wind power-related cargo using heavy lift ships and module carriers; and energy transportation of crude oil, petroleum products, chemicals, liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas, coal, and offshore operation products. In addition, the company engages in real estate rental, management, and sale services; ownership and operation of passenger ships; wholesale of ship machinery and furniture, and oil products; information-processing business; cruise ship business through the operation of Asuka II; and other transport-related services. Further, it engages in ship management and marine technical support; research and development of transportation technology; towing; terminal security; electrical installation; supply of ship supplies; accounting; and underwriting insurance or reinsurance of assets. Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha was incorporated in 1885 and is headquartered in Chiyoda, Japan.
