Samyang Foods Co. is expanding its presence in the US market by introducing its Buldak Topokki at Walmart stores nationwide. The Korean food manufacturer’s latest move follows last year’s successful launch of its Buldak Ramen line in the American market.

The ready-to-eat rice cakes come in two flavors – Original and Carbonara – and feature the company’s signature spicy sauce that gained popularity through its instant noodle products. The shelf-stable format aims to simplify the traditional Korean cooking process for US consumers.

The expansion reflects growing Western appetite for Korean street food, with Topokki joining other popular items like gimbap in gaining international recognition. Since its domestic launch in 2018, the product has reached over 60 markets globally.

While Samyang Foods eyes broader US distribution channels, the company faces competition from established Asian food brands and growing number of Korean products in American supermarkets. The success of this launch could indicate whether simplified versions of traditional Korean dishes can gain mainstream acceptance in the US market.

The stock price reaction to this announcement will be closely watched by investors focused on Korean food manufacturers’ overseas expansion strategies.
