Naver has launched a new shopping application called “Naver Plus Store,” leveraging its self-developed AI model “HyperCLOVA X” to deliver personalized shopping experiences in South Korea’s competitive e-commerce market.

The app, now available on Google Play, features an “AI Shopping Guide” initially applied to electronics categories, offering tailored recommendations based on user preferences and purchase history. It also includes “Discovery,” a short-form content feature showcasing popular products in 30-second videos.

Naver has enhanced its delivery options with Today, Tomorrow, Sunday, and Preferred Date Delivery services, though same-day delivery is currently limited to Seoul and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas.

The launch intensifies competition with Coupang, which reported 40 trillion won ($29.8 billion) in revenue last year and is also investing heavily in AI technology. CEO Bom Kim has emphasized AI as “the next wave of innovation” for driving growth and profitability.

Industry observers note that Naver’s aggressive promotional discounts will likely continue until the app establishes itself in the market.

With 44.47 million monthly active users on its portal app compared to Coupang’s 32.91 million, Naver has a substantial user base to leverage. The company has also formed strategic partnerships with CJ Logistics and Hanjin Transportation to strengthen its delivery capabilities.
