Hyundai Rotem Co., a South Korean industrial giant, has taken a significant step forward in electric vehicle (EV) technology with the launch of a new lamination press for EV motor cores at its Dangjin plant, located in South Chungcheong Province. This state-of-the-art equipment, designed for stacking thin steel sheets, is pivotal for producing motor cores, which are essential components that power electric vehicles, analogous to the role of internal combustion engines in traditional cars.

The newly unveiled lamination press boasts a high-speed balancing device that ensures precision during operation, capable of executing up to 300 strikes per minute on the steel sheets. This enhancement is crucial for maintaining the equipment’s stability and achieving high accuracy in the finished product, even during intense manufacturing processes.

Hyundai Rotem has also incorporated advanced vibration-absorbing materials into the press frame, significantly reducing equipment vibrations and allowing for the use of larger molds and higher process frequencies. This technical advancement underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and operational efficiency in EV manufacturing.

The company emphasizes the strategic advantage of this localization, highlighting the potential for faster delivery times in comparison to international competitors. This development not only marks a significant milestone for Hyundai Rotem but also represents a substantial leap forward in the EV industry, promising enhanced efficiency and reliability in electric motor production.
