Far EasTone Telecommunications Co. reported a strong financial performance for September, buoyed by increased 5G adoption and the launch of new iPhone models. The Taiwanese telecom giant saw its consolidated revenue climb 6.3% year-over-year to NT$9.121 billion (US$287 million).
The company’s net profit after tax jumped 15% to NT$1.084 billion, with earnings per share reaching NT$0.30. Far EasTone’s mobile communication business led the charge, with mobile service revenue soaring 17.3% annually, surpassing NT$5 billion for the month.
The 5G penetration rate among monthly subscribers approached 42%, driven by users upgrading their devices. This shift has helped Far EasTone maintain its industry-leading position in average revenue per user.
Far EasTone’s diversification strategy is also paying off, with its “new economy” revenue, including smart ICT solutions and digital services, growing 11% in September. The company’s year-to-date performance remains robust, with consolidated total revenue up 12.2% to NT$75.455 billion for the first nine months of 2024.
