Japanese publishing company AlphaPolis reported record quarterly profits as digital manga sales surged and its anime-related titles performed strongly.
Operating profit rose 32.5% to ¥1.55 billion ($10.3 million) in the six months through September, while revenue climbed 24.1% to ¥6.35 billion, the Tokyo-based company said in a statement Thursday. Both figures marked all-time highs for a first-half period.
Digital publishing, which accounts for over 73% of revenue, saw robust growth driven by strategic pricing and expanded distribution channels. The company’s hit series “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a VRMMO” surpassed 2 million copies in circulation.
AlphaPolis is pushing to reduce its dependence on light novels by diversifying into new genres including business books and children’s literature. The publisher announced plans for its first animation adaptation of a female-oriented novel series for 2025.
The company maintained its full-year forecast for revenue of ¥11.6 billion. To improve stock liquidity, AlphaPolis will conduct a 3-for-1 stock split effective January 2025.
