ADATA Technology is expanding beyond consumer memory products with a strategic push into the lucrative enterprise storage market, targeting the explosive data processing needs driven by artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
The Taiwanese memory manufacturer, primarily known for DRAM modules, USB drives and consumer SSDs, announced its partnership with South Korean semiconductor company FADU to develop enterprise-grade solid-state drives specifically designed for AI servers and data centers.
The new product line is scheduled for debut at Computex 2025, Taiwan’s premier technology exhibition. ADATA’s enterprise SSD offerings will leverage FADU’s controller technology to address the intensive data requirements of AI applications.
FADU has been making significant moves in the enterprise storage space, recently partnering with Western Digital to develop next-generation SSD technology called “Flexible Data Placement” (FDP) aimed at reducing write amplification and improving SSD performance.
The company’s expansion comes as global demand for high-performance data center storage soars. ADATA executives cited the trillion-NT$ (approximately US$31.2 billion) market opportunity presented by AI-driven infrastructure buildouts.
The partnership represents a strategic pivot for ADATA, which has primarily focused on consumer products since its founding in 2001. Industry analysts note that enterprise storage typically offers higher margins but requires meeting stringent reliability standards and performance benchmarks.
