Taiwanese food and retail giant Uni-President Enterprise Corp. posted its second-highest profit for the first nine months as its convenience stores and supermarket operations fueled growth.
Net income rose 4.5% to NT$17.5 billion ($550 million) through September, while revenue jumped 15.2% to NT$499.8 billion. The earnings per share climbed to NT$3.09 from NT$2.95 a year earlier.
The company’s retail unit, which operates 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan and the Philippines, along with Carrefour supermarkets, emerged as the primary growth driver. The division’s revenue surged 23.4% following the consolidation of Carrefour’s earnings starting July 2023.
The beverage segment maintained momentum with double-digit growth in key products including Tea Drinks and Haizhiyan. The industrial packaging unit saw a 35.2% revenue increase as demand for beverage containers grew and iron product sales rebounded.
The company’s pharmaceutical arm, Taiwan Sanlong, reported an 86.6% profit increase on stronger demand for drug development and manufacturing services.
