Uni-President Enterprises Corp., Taiwan’s largest food manufacturer, launched its first major logistics park in Tainan’s Xinshi District on Sunday, marking the start of an ambitious infrastructure buildout across the island.
The NT$10 billion (US$308 million) facility spans approximately 85,600 square meters and consolidates seven group logistics units handling everything from ambient storage to cold-chain delivery and e-commerce fulfillment. The company said Japan’s NX Group, which specializes in semiconductor logistics, has also established operations at the site to provide services to southern Taiwan clients including TSMC.
Chairman Lo Chih-hsien cited labor shortages and rising operational complexity as ongoing challenges for the logistics sector. He offered a guarded assessment of the retail environment, noting that fixed consumer demand spread across an expanding number of competitors has made conditions difficult.
The Tainan facility represents the first of four planned logistics parks. Additional sites are scheduled for Taichung Port in 2026 and Taoyuan in 2028. The largest investment—a NT$23.5 billion (US$723 million) complex at Taoyuan’s aerotropolis—is expected to begin operations in 2029.
Lo indicated the company has received inquiries from external logistics operators seeking to join the second phase at Tainan, raising the possibility of developing property management as a separate business line.
