TV Tokyo Holdings announced a 9.1% increase in anime rights revenue for the first quarter, reaching 5.17 billion yen (approximately $36.3 million). This growth is attributed to robust domestic and international distribution, particularly from “SPY×FAMILY CODE: White the Movie,” which was released in December 2023, and strong sales of Pokémon royalties globally.
The company noted positive developments in China, where the social media game and merchandise for BORUTO showed steady progress, along with a rise in sales of game rights for Black Clover.
Rev Tokyo Music, TV Tokyo’s music publishing subsidiary, reported strong overseas royalty revenues from background music for “NARUTO” and “BORUTO” in the Americas. However, the company saw a 5.6% decline in sales, totaling 963 million yen (about $6.8 million), due to a drop in domestic royalties compared to last year’s “SPY×FAMILY” theme song success.
AT-X, the anime specialty channel, managed to increase broadcasting sales through a successful subscription campaign, although rights sales declined by 3.2% to 853 million yen (around $6 million) due to weaker results compared to last year’s hits like “Tokyo Revengers.”
Overall, TV Tokyo Holdings continues to leverage its popular anime titles to maintain strong performance in both domestic and international markets.
