Tripod Technology Corp. agreed to acquire Japanese printed circuit board manufacturer Lincstech Co. for 39.7 billion yen ($266 million), expanding its presence in high-end PCB manufacturing and semiconductor testing equipment.
The Taiwanese electronics manufacturer will gain five automated factories in Japan and Singapore, adding more than 1,600 employees to its workforce. The deal, expected to close by April 2025 pending regulatory approvals, marks Tripod’s second Japanese acquisition since 2018 when it bought ELNA Printed Circuits.
Lincstech specializes in multilayer circuit boards and probe cards used in testing high-end DRAM chips, complementing Tripod’s existing portfolio of PCB products for computers, automotive electronics and consumer devices.
The acquisition comes as Japanese corporate assets become more attractive to overseas buyers due to the weakened yen. Tripod, part of the Walsin Lihwa Group, already operates facilities across China, Japan and Malaysia.
Separately, Tripod announced a share buyback program of up to 2.5 million shares at NT$53-76 per share over the next two months. The shares will be distributed to employees.
