Sharp has introduced a concept electric vehicle, the LDK+, designed to serve not just as transportation but as a living space extension. Built on a platform from its parent company, Foxconn, the LDK+ concept aims to meet the evolving needs of users, offering room-like features such as rotatable seats and privacy-enhancing smart windows.

Sharp envisions the vehicle as more than just an EV, seeing it as a space where users can work, relax, or hold virtual meetings when the car is idle. This design capitalizes on Sharp’s expertise in home appliances, blending advanced features like AI-powered lighting and air conditioning with the vehicle’s functionality.

Despite the hype, Sharp is entering an EV market facing slowdowns and increased competition, particularly from Chinese automakers leading the software race. While Foxconn’s platform offers cost-saving advantages, the challenge for Sharp will be differentiating its EVs amid an increasingly crowded space. With EV adoption still lagging, Sharp is betting on the future potential of this evolving market, aiming for a release in the next few years.
