RaonSecure Co. won a contract to provide biometric authentication services to Japan’s largest internet bank, expanding the South Korean cybersecurity firm’s presence in the Japanese market.
The 2.5 million deal with SBI Sumishin Net Bank centers on RaonSecure’s OnePass Solution, which offers various authentication methods including fingerprint, iris, voice and facial recognition. The platform, certified by the FIDO Alliance industry group, aims to replace traditional passwords and one-time verification codes.
RaonSecure’s footprint in Japan has grown significantly, with OnePass reaching more than 5.1 million monthly active users as of June. The company has deployed its authentication services to over 1,000 clients globally.
The Korean security firm plans to expand further in Japan by offering subscription-based biometric authentication and developing a decentralized identifier system, according to the company.
The deal highlights growing demand for advanced security measures in Japan’s digital banking sector as financial institutions work to prevent fraud while simplifying customer verification processes.
