Samsung Display, a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics,  will supply its premium M14 OLED panels across Apple’s entire iPhone 17 lineup, expanding use of the advanced display technology previously reserved for high-end Pro models.

Industry sources familiar with Apple’s plans said the M14 material set, which debuted in last year’s iPhone 16 Pro devices, will now extend to standard and Air models when the series launches later this year. The iPhone 17 family is expected to include four versions: a 6.1-inch standard model, 6.6-inch Air, 6.3-inch Pro, and 6.9-inch Pro Max.

Samsung Display is projected to provide between 80 million and 90 million units, securing the largest share among Apple’s OLED suppliers. The expanded adoption represents a significant volume increase for companies in Samsung’s supply chain, including Dupont, Universal Display Corporation, and Duksan Neolux, which supply red-spectrum materials. Samsung SDI contributes green components, while SFC and Idemitsu Kosan produce blue materials.

OLED technology generates colors using organic compounds that emit light when electricity passes through them. The M14 represents the highest-performance material set commercially available for OLED displays, with materials determining color accuracy, brightness, and panel longevity.
