Rovio Entertainment, a subsidiary of Sega, announced today that production on “The Angry Birds Movie 3” is set to begin, with Prime Focus Studios and DNEG Animation as animation partners. This third installment in the popular animated series will be produced in collaboration with One Cool Group Ltd., Flywheel Media, and Dentsu.
The Angry Birds franchise, originating from a mobile game by Rovio with over 5 billion downloads worldwide as of 2022, continues to captivate audiences with its iconic characters. Jason Sudeikis will return as Red, and Josh Gad will reprise his role as Chuck, continuing their adventures.
The first two films, released in 2016 and 2019, grossed over US$500 million worldwide. John Rice will direct the new film, with Thurop Van Orman writing the screenplay and serving as executive producer. The production team includes experienced professionals such as Jeannie Zhang, Francesca Natale, Vadim Bazhanov, and Sarah K. Reimers, ensuring high-quality animation and storytelling.
