Pearl Abyss’s upcoming action-adventure game “Crimson Desert” captured the spotlight at South Korea’s largest gaming exhibition, securing the prestigious Game of G-Star award at the 2024 event.
The title, developed by the creator of “Black Desert Online,” drew massive crowds to its dedicated showcase area, where about 5,000 visitors endured wait times of up to 150 minutes to test the game across 100 demo stations.
The Korea Game Journalists Club selected “Crimson Desert” for the top honor, citing its advanced graphics powered by the company’s proprietary BlackSpace Engine. The game features an open-world setting on the continent of Pywel, where players take on the role of mercenaries.
Pearl Abyss took an unconventional approach at G-Star by forgoing traditional marketing events in favor of pure gameplay demonstrations. The strategy paid off as the game dominated the show floor with the largest single-game booth.
The award adds momentum to Pearl Abyss’s plans for a global release across PC and console platforms in 2025. However, the company has yet to announce specific launch dates or pricing details for the highly anticipated title.
