NTT Docomo is preparing to launch its “extended reality” (XR) smart glasses, called Mirza, later this year, aiming to capture opportunities in the growing industrial metaverse. The glasses, developed with Sharp through the joint venture NTT Qonoq Devices, weigh 125 grams and provide features like real-time transcription and translation in over 140 languages. They also allow users to simulate a multimonitor setup wirelessly connected to smartphones.
Priced at 248,000 yen (about $1,700), the glasses are designed for long-term wear and offer optional vision correction. While available for individual purchase at Docomo stores and online, NTT Communications will handle corporate sales, focusing on business applications.
As Docomo seeks partners to expand content development, the company is positioning itself in a market expected to grow significantly. According to SDKI Analytics, the global smart glasses market is forecast to triple, reaching $51 billion by 2036, fueled by increasing demand for XR technologies across industries.
