South Korean online game developer Nexon Korea Corp. officially launched its action role-playing game (RPG) Dungeon & Fighter Mobile in the Chinese market on Tuesday. This launch follows three months after the game received approval from Chinese authorities in February.
Dungeon & Fighter, Nexon’s best-selling game, boasts over 850 million registered users worldwide. The mobile version features nostalgic dot graphics and a side-scrolling combat style, staying true to the original’s appeal. Notably, new content related to the iconic actor Bruce Lee has been added, enhancing the game’s cultural resonance in China.
Tencent Games, which previously managed the distribution of Dungeon & Fighter in China, is responsible for its local distribution. This marks Nexon’s second attempt to introduce Dungeon & Fighter Mobile to the Chinese market. The initial release, scheduled for August 2020, was halted due to regulatory issues.
The successful launch in China represents a significant milestone for Nexon, promising to expand its footprint in one of the world’s largest gaming markets. With Tencent’s strong local presence and distribution capabilities, Dungeon & Fighter Mobile is poised to capture a substantial share of the Chinese mobile gaming audience.
