Archer-Daniels-Midland Company and Mitsubishi Corporation signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to explore collaboration opportunities across the agriculture value chain, building on their existing relationship.
The potential alliance comes as global food and agriculture supply chains face increasing pressure from population growth, economic development, and rising consumer demand for sustainable products. Both companies cited recent short-term disruptions that have highlighted the need for more resilient supply networks.
The partnership would combine ADM’s position as one of the world’s largest food and agriculture companies with Mitsubishi’s cross-industrial business platform spanning food, energy and other sectors.
According to the announcement, the companies plan to identify new opportunities addressing global needs from biofuel supply chains to strengthening the global food system.
Chicago-based ADM, which reported $93.5 billion in revenue last year, has been expanding its nutrition business while maintaining its core agricultural processing operations. Mitsubishi Corporation operates through eight business groups including food industry, environmental energy, and mineral resources with approximately 1,300 group companies globally.
Neither company disclosed specific financial terms or a timeline for the potential partnership.
