MediaTek, a leading IC design company, has announced impressive financial results for July, reporting revenues of NT$45.61 billion (approximately US$1.45 billion), marking a 5.85% month-over-month increase and a 43.59% rise compared to the same period last year. This figure represents the company’s highest single-month revenue in recent years, reflecting robust demand across its product lines.
Despite a conservative outlook for the third quarter, the company remains optimistic about its growth trajectory, driven by the anticipated success of its new Dimensity 9400 chip. The flagship chip, expected to be integrated into a broader range of mobile devices, is set for release in October and promises significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency, potentially accelerating smartphone product cycles. Flagship product revenue is projected to grow by over 50% in 2024.
Cumulative revenue for the first seven months of the year has surpassed NT$300 billion (US$9.55 billion), showing a 35.82% increase from the previous year. While demand for 4G chips in emerging markets is growing, it has slowed the decline in 5G chip demand. The company forecasts third-quarter revenue between NT$123.5 billion and NT$132.4 billion, with a gross profit margin of 45.5% to 48.5%.
In addition to expanding its product lineup, the company is exploring new growth avenues through partnerships with ARM and Huida, focusing on cloud AI ASIC designs. These collaborations are expected to strengthen its position in the AI mobile and PC markets and enhance its capabilities in CPU and NPU design.
