LG Display is taking its innovative stretchable display technology to the runway at the 2025 S/S Seoul Fashion Week. The company will present clothing and accessories featuring stretchable displays, a breakthrough technology capable of being stretched, folded, and twisted, offering unprecedented design flexibility. This event, held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, highlights potential future applications in fashion.
First introduced in 2022, LG Display’s stretchable screens can extend a 12-inch display to 14 inches (20% elongation) while maintaining a high resolution of 100ppi, comparable to traditional monitors. These displays, developed as part of a national project with support from South Korean government agencies, showcase the potential for commercial use.
Collaborating with designers Park Yoon-hee and Lee Chung-chung, LG Display has integrated its technology into garments and bags, allowing for real-time changes in design and color. Models will walk the runway adorned in these futuristic pieces, demonstrating how stretchable displays could redefine fashion, wearables, and even mobility.
Beyond aesthetics, stretchable displays offer versatility by adhering to irregular surfaces, suggesting potential applications in wearable tech and beyond. As the national project approaches completion, LG Display aims to refine the technology, positioning it as a cornerstone of next-generation consumer electronics.
