Korean streaming platform SOOP launched its global expansion with Thailand as its first international market, banking on the country’s active e-sports community to drive growth.
The platform unveiled a specialized Valorant section, allowing users to track league schedules and access multilingual broadcasts. New features include challenge missions, broadcast clip sharing, and subscription gift certificates to boost user engagement.
SOOP is developing tools for streamers to manage multiple broadcasts, chat functions, and analytics from a single interface. The company plans to strengthen its partnership with Riot Games in 2025, becoming the exclusive streaming partner for Valorant Challengers Southeast Asia tournament.
Choi Young-woo, head of global business, said the company will focus on technological development and content enhancement to compete globally. The expansion strategy includes partnerships with game companies and local streamers to create market-specific content.
The move puts SOOP in direct competition with established streaming giants like Twitch and YouTube Gaming in Southeast Asia’s growing e-sports market. Success will depend on the platform’s ability to attract and retain both streamers and viewers in a crowded marketplace.
