Hanwha Investment & Securities announced its acquisition of a 5.4% stake in Edinburgh Airport, valued at approximately $93.5 million, from Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). Edinburgh Airport, Scotland’s primary air travel hub, is jointly owned by GIP and VINCI Airports, with GIP holding 49.99% and VINCI 50.01%.

Hanwha facilitated the investment through a fund of funds managed by Platform Partners Asset Management, offering domestic institutional investors a co-investment pathway into what it considers a high-quality infrastructure asset. Airport investments, such as Edinburgh Airport, are viewed as attractive due to their potential for long-term dividend yields and capital appreciation.

Edinburgh Airport serves as a major gateway with over 150 destinations and 220 routes, focusing on long-haul travel to Europe and the Americas. The airport’s strategic positioning and robust passenger traffic underscore Hanwha’s interest in tapping into stable returns, backed by steady demand for international air travel.
