Doosan Group Chairman Park Jung-won met with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on June 12 in Astana to strengthen energy cooperation between South Korea and Kazakhstan. The meeting occurred at the Hilton Astana Hotel during the Korea-Kazakhstan Business Forum, coinciding with President Yoon Suk-yeol’s state visit to Kazakhstan.

The forum featured key attendees, including Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev, Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, Samruk-Kazyna CEO Nurlan Zhakupov, and Doosan Enerability executives. Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in Kazakhstan’s energy sector, which relies heavily on aging thermal power plants.

Chairman Park highlighted Doosan’s expertise in power generation technology, positioning the company as an optimal partner for Kazakhstan’s energy projects. President Tokayev expressed interest in the Turkistan power plant construction project and pledged full support and cooperation with Samruk Energy.

Additionally, Doosan Enerability’s recent humanitarian efforts were acknowledged, including a $100,000 donation for flood recovery in Kazakhstan. The company’s established presence in the region, marked by successful projects such as the Karabatan combined cycle power plant, underscores its commitment to the country’s energy modernization.

The Korea-Kazakhstan Business Forum and President Yoon’s visit emphasized the importance of bilateral relations, with economic delegations exploring new cooperation opportunities. As Kazakhstan modernizes its energy infrastructure, Doosan’s involvement will be crucial, supported by both governments and corporate leaders.
