South Korean gaming firm DevSisters Corp. dominated Google Play’s annual awards, with its “Cookie Run: Tower of Adventures” securing top honors in both mobile and PC categories for 2024.
The game’s success marks a milestone for South Korea’s gaming industry, which claimed more than 20% of total gaming awards across Google Play’s 20 categories this year. The platform recognized the title for its engaging gameplay mechanics and character development.
The awards highlight Google’s growing focus on cross-platform gaming experiences, particularly with its PC gaming initiative gaining traction. Industry analysts note that DevSisters’ achievement could accelerate the adoption of mobile games on desktop platforms.
Other notable winners included “Solo Leveling: Arise” for storytelling excellence and “Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD” in the Play Pass category. In the non-gaming segment, Speakeasy Labs’ AI-powered language learning app “Speak” earned recognition as the year’s best application.
The recognition of multiple Korean developers underscores the country’s continued influence in the global mobile gaming market, where it has traditionally maintained a strong presence in game development and innovation.
