Delta Electronics is advancing its position in the passive component market with a $71 million (NT$2.331 billion) investment to acquire key assets from Japan’s Alps Alpine. This acquisition, channeled through Delta’s Japanese and Korean subsidiaries, includes power inductors, powder material-related production and R&D equipment, patents, and intellectual property rights.
Alps Alpine, a well-established Japanese company, is recognized for its patented powder material technology and low-loss power inductors, which are integral to improving the energy efficiency of various electronic devices. With this acquisition, Delta aims to leverage these technologies to bolster its capabilities in several high-growth sectors, including data centers, AI high-speed computing, electric vehicles, and next-generation communication products.
Delta Electronics, known for its leadership in power inductor technology, anticipates significant synergies from integrating Alps Alpine’s R&D and production resources. The company plans to expand its research and development efforts in Japan, focusing on advanced materials and technologies, which could accelerate the rollout of new products and innovations.
This acquisition is part of Delta’s broader strategy to enhance its supply chain and patent portfolio while strengthening its market presence in the rapidly growing sectors of AI, EVs, and smart devices.
