CyberAgent Inc. has begun operating an English-language anime news site through its U.S. subsidiary as part of a strategy to expand its media footprint internationally.
The site, “ANIME FREAKS,” launched in March 2025 and will be managed by CyberAgent America. The platform serves as the English counterpart to the Japanese version that debuted in April 2024 under AbemaTV, another CyberAgent subsidiary.
The company indicated the site will translate Japanese content while publishing information simultaneously in multiple markets, addressing the typical time lag in anime news between Japan and international territories. The platform will also feature original reporting from anime conventions globally.
CyberAgent plans to utilize quantitative data from its social media properties and anime review sites, combining this with user comments to create distinctive analytical content.
While starting with English, the company intends to add Korean, simplified and traditional Chinese, Thai, Spanish, Portuguese, and French versions in phases. The expansion timeline and media partnerships will be announced later.
The move comes as Japanese animation continues to gain global popularity, with streaming platforms investing heavily in anime content to attract international subscribers.
