Taiwan’s largest telecom operator Chunghwa Telecom Co. expects revenue to reach NT$233.74 billion (US$7.3 billion) in 2025, targeting its highest level in eight years as competition intensifies in the domestic market.

The carrier projects earnings per share of NT$4.82, compared with NT$4.80 in 2024, according to a board meeting statement. The Taipei-based company plans to increase capital expenditure by NT$3.37 billion to NT$32.36 billion this year to expand its AI-enabled data centers and strengthen submarine cable infrastructure.

Net income is forecast to be between NT$35.84 billion and NT$37.39 billion, representing a range between a 3.7% decline and 0.5% growth from the previous year. The company faces mounting pressure from rivals in both the retail and enterprise segments.

Chairman Chi-Mau Sheih said the telecom provider will focus on streamlining operations and deepening AI implementation across its services. The company aims to maintain its leadership in Taiwan’s 5G market while developing new technology capabilities.

Chunghwa Telecom will hold an online investor conference on January 23 to discuss its outlook.
