Chunghwa Telecom Reports Strong Growth in October Revenue

Chunghwa Telecom posted robust performance in October, reaching a record-high monthly revenue of 19.44 billion yuan, marking a notable 1.1% annual increase. The net profit after tax for the same period stood at 3.11 billion yuan, reflecting a substantial 7.8% annual growth, resulting in an earnings per share (EPS) of 0.4 yuan. Cumulative revenue for the period from January to October amounted to 180.78 billion yuan, with a net profit after tax of 31.77 billion yuan and an earnings per share of 4.1 yuan.

Chunghwa Telecom attributes its success to the continued growth of its overall mobile business in October. The surge in 5G users, coupled with an increase in the overall number of 090 phone numbers, contributed to the robust growth of mobile data revenue. International roaming also played a role in driving a substantial 6.3% year-on-year increase in overall mobile service revenue, marking 31 consecutive months of growth.

Mobile monthly rental ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) increased by 4.9% year-on-year for the 31st consecutive month, showcasing sustained growth. Moreover, the mobile monthly rental churn rate decreased by 23.2% year-on-year, maintaining its position as the lowest in the telecommunications industry.

Chunghwa Telecom reported continued growth in fixed-line broadband revenue, attributed to the popularity of speed-up promotion programs. Broadband access revenue increased by 3.2% year-on-year, and data network revenue experienced a 1.1% year-on-year increase. Wi-Fi revenue saw a remarkable surge, increasing by nearly 50% year-on-year. The sales boost from the iPhone 15 series and the impact of the ICT integration project, including platform construction, contributed to double-digit revenue growth.

Chunghwa Telecom reported strong customer growth, with the total number of mobile communication customers reaching 12.984 million at the end of October. Monthly rental customers increased by 1.1% in 2009, marking growth for 34 consecutive months. The number of optical generation broadband users reached 3.79 million, with 1.249 million customers subscribing to 300Mbps or above, driven by the “Quickness Must Go” plan. The number of MOD customers reached 2.054 million.
