Bandai Namco Holdings reported record profits for the fiscal year ended March 2025, with net income climbing 27.4% to ¥129.3 billion ($870 million) as blockbuster game releases drove exceptional performance across all business segments.
The Japanese entertainment conglomerate saw operating profit nearly double to ¥180.2 billion ($1.2 billion) on sales of ¥1.24 trillion ($8.3 billion), an 18.2% increase from the previous year.
The digital business segment delivered the most dramatic growth, with profits surging nearly tenfold to ¥68.5 billion ($460 million), propelled by the success of “Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree” downloadable content and “Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO.” These releases helped reverse previous year’s losses from online game impairments.
The toy hobby division, Bandai’s largest by revenue, saw sales increase 17.1% to ¥596.9 billion ($4 billion), bolstered by international demand for Gundam models and collector figures as Japanese IP popularity expanded globally through streaming platforms.
Despite the record results, the company projects a downturn for fiscal 2026, forecasting a 22.7% drop in net profit to ¥100 billion ($672 million). The expected decline is primarily attributed to a 41.6% profit decrease in its digital business following an exceptional year of game releases.
