The company offers dry bulk shipping of raw materials, such as iron ore, coal, wood chips, and biomass fuels, as well as intermediate commodities, fertilizers, grain, cement, salt, and steel products, transporting ocean freight, and operating a fleet of 10,000 ships; engages in tanker, liquified gas and liquefied natural gas carriers, and offshores businesses, as well as operates offshore wind power energy and marine projects, handles oil tankers, and marine freight transportation. It also provides product transport services, including containership through Ocean Network Express brand, car carrier under the Auto Carrier Express brand, terminals, cargo handling, and logistics comprising of heavy cargo transportation, air and ocean freight forwarding, trucking, customs clearance, warehousing, and buyers' consolidation. In addition, the company operates real estate, ferry and coastal RoRo vessel, and cruise businesses; and associated businesses, such as tugboat operation, maritime and global HR consulting services, travel, finance, trading, insurance, accounting, information and communications technology systems, oil stockpiling project, sale of nautical charts, fuel, marine materials, machinery, and other products, as well as corporate venture capital. Further, it offers loading and unloading works; time chartering and leasing of vessels; maintenance and management of operational systems and system development; and acts as shipping agent. The company was founded in 1884 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
