Taiwanese wafer foundry United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) posted revenue of NT$18.94 billion (US$586 million) in September, marking an 8.25% decline from August and a slight 0.58% year-on-year decrease. Despite the September slowdown, UMC’s third-quarter revenue reached NT$60.49 billion (US$1.87 billion), up 6.49% from the previous quarter and reflecting annual growth of nearly 6%.
For the first three quarters of 2024, UMC reported cumulative revenue of NT$171.92 billion (US$5.31 billion), a 2.59% increase over the same period last year. This modest year-to-date growth highlights UMC’s ability to maintain steady gains despite challenging market conditions in the semiconductor sector.
While monthly fluctuations reflect ongoing demand shifts and economic uncertainties, UMC’s quarterly performance suggests resilience in navigating a competitive market.
