SK Signet Inc., a prominent South Korean manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) chargers, has announced a pivotal agreement to supply fast chargers to Francis Energy, marking a significant step in expanding the fast-charging infrastructure in Ohio. This initiative aligns with the construction of a new EV charging station by Francis Energy, recognized as the fourth-largest fast-charging network operator in the United States.

Under this partnership, SK Signet’s state-of-the-art 400-kW fast chargers will be deployed, capable of charging EVs to full capacity in approximately 18 minutes. These chargers not only epitomize efficiency but are also designed in compliance with the stringent standards of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, a federal initiative offering subsidies to foster the development of reliable EV charging networks across the nation.

A critical component of this collaboration is SK Signet’s manufacturing facility in Texas, which commenced mass production in July of the previous year. This strategic location is instrumental in fulfilling the NEVI program’s requirement that subsidized equipment be produced within the U.S., with the factory boasting an annual output of 10,000 fast chargers.

The long-term agreement, signed in July of the previous year, secures the supply of a minimum of 1,000 units of these high-efficiency 400-kW chargers to Francis Energy over a span of five years, extending until 2027. This deal underscores SK Signet’s commitment to advancing EV infrastructure and supports the broader transition towards sustainable transportation solutions in Ohio and beyond, setting a precedent for future collaborations in the burgeoning EV charging sector.
