SK Group and Geely Holding Forge Strategic Partnership in Green Mobility Sector

SK Group, South Korea’s second-largest conglomerate, has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding) to enhance their global competitiveness in the green mobility sector. The agreement, signed on June 11, encompasses various areas including EV batteries, automotive electronics components, and green energy solutions.

SK Inc., the strategic investment holding company of SK Group, formalized the partnership with Geely Holding, a leading global mobility technology enterprise founded in 1986. Geely Holding oversees several automotive brands, with total aggregate sales reaching 2.79 million units in 2023, including over 980,000 units of electrified and new energy vehicles.

This strategic alliance aims to explore cooperation opportunities in the eco-friendly mobility sector. The focus areas include the development of EV batteries, EV charging infrastructure, and automotive electronics components. Additionally, both groups plan to collaborate on various green energy initiatives.

Jang Yong-ho, President of SK Inc., emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “Through this partnership, the two groups are expected to lead global electric vehicle and eco-friendly energy markets and build a strong foothold in the future mobility sector.”

Daniel Li, CEO of Geely Holding Group, highlighted the collaborative spirit of the agreement, noting, “Geely’s cooperation with SK is part of our commitment to working with global partners in transforming and improving industries in a sustainable direction. Through this partnership, we give full play to our respective advantages and provide global consumers with a better greener mobility experience.”

This agreement marks a pivotal step for both SK Group and Geely Holding as they strengthen their positions in the rapidly evolving green mobility market, aiming to deliver advanced, eco-friendly transportation solutions on a global scale.
