A leading provider of textile services, Shinkong Textile Co is contributing to efforts to make fashion more sustainable by launching its INFINITY SHIRT PROJECT (ISP) to transform corporate team uniforms from a recyclability model to an infinite recyclability one, zero waste, and a new standard for green procurement. Shin Kong Textile General Manager Zhang Ruinan takes a cautiously optimistic view on recovery in the textile industry, which he believes will have a bright future, with the sector for fabric and garment alike showing a strong demand for skilled workers.
The world consumes more than 100 billion garments annually, and a full 82% goes to waste— that’s a significantly negative impact on the environment. It’s an issue to which Shinkong Textile has devoted its “clothing to clothing infinite cycle”, which recycles and reuses 100% of uniforms, that are now made with 100% recyclable PET bottle yarn—recycled polyester fiber that allows it to mimic the natural feel of cotton and denim.
Debuting at Paris Textile Fabrics Exhibition, the project, which has indeed already met with wide attention and orders from major clients in the corporate and governmental sectors and efforts underway in a number of other industries, not only encapsulates Shinkong Textile’s quest to be at the forefront of environmental stewardship, but a milestone not just for the company, but for the entire industry’s movement towards making fashion more sustainable.
