Quanta Computer Inc. rejected market speculation about technical problems with Nvidia Corp.’s GB200 AI servers, saying production remains on schedule for mass shipments in the first quarter of 2025.
The Taiwan-based manufacturer’s Cloud Solution Business Unit President Mike Yang dismissed reports of liquid leaks, thermal issues, and connector problems that allegedly led to order cuts from Microsoft Corp. He said engineering tests are proceeding normally ahead of production ramp-up.
Quanta has invested NT$40 billion ($1.3 billion) in US operations, operating two facilities in California and Tennessee with over 1,000 employees dedicated to AI server production. The company keeps motherboard manufacturing in Taiwan and Thailand while focusing US operations on final server assembly closer to customers.
Yang said AI server orders continue to increase, with chip supply remaining tight. He downplayed concerns about demand peaking in 2025-2026, noting the industry’s expansion from training to inference applications.
Regarding component sourcing strategy, Yang said the focus remains on securing Nvidia certification rather than increasing in-house production. The company evaluates cost-effectiveness of internal versus external sourcing case by case.
