Naver Corp. opened a new 3D content production facility called MotionStage at its headquarters, targeting virtual content creators as the company pushes to differentiate its streaming platform CHZZK from competitors.
The studio, which began accepting applications from CHZZK streamers on March 10, allows creators to translate facial expressions and body movements into 3D animations using motion capture technology. Creators have access to specialized suits, raw capture data, and professional staff.
Kim Jung-mi, who leads CHZZK, said the facility will help establish the platform as a destination for unique virtual content experiences. The company is prioritizing virtual streamers regardless of their current ratings on the platform.
The move builds on Naver’s earlier innovation when it became the first in the streaming industry to apply VRM, a widely used 3D modeling file format, to mobile platforms through its Prism Live Studio app last November.
Naver’s investment targets a virtual YouTuber market that research firm Business Research Insights projects will reach $849.95 billion (approximately 1,240 trillion won) by 2033.
Competitor SOOP is making similar moves, providing access to optical motion capture studios and VR broadcasting equipment as companies race to capture market share in virtual content creation.
