South Korea’s LG Uplus Corp. has announced the integration of its web-based in-car game service, Game Portal, in Kia Corp’s latest electric vehicle, the Kia EV3. This marks the first instance of Game Portal being available in a domestic brand vehicle, enhancing the entertainment options for EV owners.
The Game Portal service allows users to play games directly on the vehicle’s built-in display without the need for app downloads. It features eight games from mobile game developer Mobirix, including popular titles like Tower Defense King, Bricks Breaker Quest, and Marble Mission. Users can access these games by logging into the Kia Connect Store website and purchasing the necessary digital specifications.
For safety, the games are only operable when the vehicle is stationary or charging, ensuring that drivers are not distracted while on the move. LG Uplus envisions cars becoming a viable gaming platform as the industry progresses towards fully autonomous vehicles.
The launch in the Kia EV3 is just the beginning, as LG Uplus plans to expand Game Portal to other Kia models, positioning itself at the forefront of in-car entertainment in the burgeoning era of electric and autonomous vehicles.
