Inventec’s investment in AI accelerators and new AI IP businesses is beginning to deliver results, according to Chairman Ye Licheng. While AI is not yet a core focus for the company, its prospects look promising. Inventec continues to prioritize AI laptops and servers, with strong business momentum expected through the second half of the year and into 2025.

At the recent Harvard Business Review’s Digital Transformation Innovation Award, Ye received the Large Enterprise Model Award for Inventec. Following the event, he shared an optimistic outlook for the company’s AI-related operations, noting that client orders for the second half of 2024 appear robust.

In the AI accelerator market, Inventec introduced its “VectorMesh” embedded neural network processor series, targeting the neural processing unit (NPU) space. With several IC design manufacturers as clients, the company is positioning itself as a key player in the commercialization of NPU technology. Inventec’s custom NPUs, using a DSP-based architecture, emphasize low power consumption and cost-effectiveness, allowing for efficient AI image recognition in laptops and other devices. The technology is expected to expand into mobile phones, tablets, and surveillance cameras, further broadening its market reach.
