IG Port reported a 56% decline in operating profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2026, weighed down by the absence of one-time licensing revenue that boosted results a year earlier. The Tokyo-based company, which houses Production I.G and WIT Studio, posted operating profit of ¥196 million ($1.3 million) for the three months ended August, compared with ¥444 million in the same period last year.

Revenue fell 32% to ¥3.06 billion as the company didn’t record any lump-sum licensing payments during the quarter. Last year’s results benefited from a one-time payment for “Kimi ni Todoke Season 3,” a project fully financed by IG Port. The licensing business, which manages rights to properties including “Haikyu!!,” “SPY×FAMILY,” and “Attack on Titan,” saw revenue plunge 76% to ¥500 million.

The animation production segment reported a loss of ¥136 million, though narrower than the previous year’s ¥394 million deficit. Work progressed on “Kaiju No. 8 Season 2” and “YAIBA,” but under IG Port’s percentage-of-completion accounting method, revenue recognition lagged because many projects remained in early production stages where costs haven’t accumulated. Licensing revenue from these new series won’t materialize until the second quarter.

IG Port maintained its full-year forecast for record operating profit of ¥17.9 billion, banking on its merchandise business to triple sales through overseas pop-up stores and permanent retail displays. The company expects fourth-quarter results to carry most of the year’s profits as major projects reach completion.
