HD Hyundai Electric Co., a leading South Korean electric equipment manufacturer, announced on Wednesday that it has secured a power transformer supply contract worth £47.1 million ($60.1 million) from UK utility company National Grid plc.
As part of the agreement, HD Hyundai Electric will deliver nine power transformers with capacities ranging from 275 to 400 kilovolts (kV) to five electrical substations operated by National Grid by October 2027. This contract underscores the company’s expanding role in supporting global power infrastructure.
An official from HD Hyundai Electric highlighted the ongoing growth in the power infrastructure sector, driven by rising global power demand and the increasing integration of renewable energy sources. “The power infrastructure industry is enjoying a boom this year thanks to rising global power demand and an increasing supply of renewable energy,” the official stated. “Exports of electric devices such as transformers and high-voltage circuit breakers needed to strengthen power grids are expected to stay firm for the time being.”
This deal further solidifies HD Hyundai Electric’s position as a key player in the international market for electric equipment, leveraging its expertise to support the modernization and reliability of power grids worldwide.
